Event Description:
This is a great hike for people who have no experience with fungi or people looking to familiarize themselves with common mushrooms found in our area this time of year. Although the focus of this hike is not solely on edible mushrooms, we will identify the ones we find! The content is intended for adults, but children accompanied by an adult are welcome.
Guided by: Jim Schwiebert, Naturalist
Bio: I have been a Naturalist at Beaver Creek Reserve since 2007. Prior to that, I spent two years as a Fisheries Technician, 10 years as a Forester for Chippewa County, and 7 years as a Wildlife Technician in Eau Claire. As a naturalist, I’ve always been interested in the world of foraging, and mushrooms have become a part of that obsession over the last 10 years. Although I’m not an expert, I do enjoy getting out in the woods and discovering the wonderful world of fungi. And, I do enjoy eating a few of them as well!
