Event Description: This fun and engaging course has been designed specifically for beginners who want to learn more about birds and take the next step in birding. This 2-½ day course will combine classroom lectures, field trips, group lessons and hands-on activities to give you a full learning experience. Topics will include basics of bird behavior, migration and identification. We will explain how to identify birds using size, shape, plumage and other field marks. We will teach you to listen to birds and tricks to identify their songs. We will discuss how you can help birds and protect the places they depend on. Sponsored by Landmark Conservancy with support from We Energies Foundation.
One of the field trips will be at Henke Acres which is owned & managed by Beaver Creek Reserve and protected in perpetuity by conservation easements held with Landmark Conservancy. For more details, visit Beaver Creek Reserve’s website.
