Butterfly and Insect Discovery Walk

Event Description:
Join us to explore the beautiful world of butterflies and other grassland insects! Take a walk through a reconstructed prairie that provides prime habitat for a diverse mix of insects with expert Jim Schwiebert as your guide.

Learn about host and nectar plants. Hear about the challenges pollinators and insect populations are facing, and how land protection can be part of the solution. This hike will take place at a property in eastern Eau Claire County that is protected through a conservation easement with Landmark Conservancy.

Jim Schwiebert is a Beaver Creek Reserve Naturalist.

Hike Details: This will be an easy walk through a relatively flat prairie on a mowed trail. Approximate distance: less than 1 mile.

Location: Eastern Eau Claire County. The exact location will be provided during registration.

Parking: limited to roadside parking.

What to bring:  Please wear comfortable shoes, dress appropriately for the weather and wear layers. Bring sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat, and water. We will be in a prairie with little opportunity for shade.

No bathrooms available, except the great outdoors. No dogs.

Cost: Free, but registration is required.
