Lower Chippewa River Paddle
July 10 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Event Description: Discover the natural beauty of the lower Chippewa River on this 3–4 hour guided paddle! This stretch of river is a favorite for swimming, tubing, fishing, wildlife watching, rock hunting, and more—and it’s rich with unique natural communities that support an incredible diversity of plants and animals.
As we paddle and pause along the way, you’ll stretch your legs and dive deeper into the river ecosystem while learning about conservation efforts that help keep this waterway healthy.
You’ll hear from Matt Andre, Fisheries Technician with the DNR, who will share insights into the Chippewa River’s diverse fishery—from common year‑round residents to seasonal transients, including threatened and endangered species. You’ll even get the chance to see and identify some of these fish!
We’ll also be joined by Bre Klockzien, Citizen Science & Aquatics Coordinator at Beaver Creek Reserve, who will highlight freshwater mussels – their abundance, diversity, and distribution in this area – and ongoing citizen science monitoring efforts.
Whether you’re an experienced paddler or simply curious about the river, this guided experience offers a way to connect with nature and learn from local experts!
