Volunteer Workdays at Maiden Rock SNA – January 2023

January 12 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Event Description:

Are you curious about prairie and oak savanna restoration? Join us for these workdays led by the DNR!

Maiden Rock Bluff SNA was protected in 2004 and is known for peregrine falcons, 400-foot bluffs, stunning views overlooking Lake Pepin and rare plants. But there are concerns; invasive brush and other undesirable trees like red cedar are invading the remnant bluff prairies and oak savanna.

Maiden Rock Winter Workday

Recent work has changed this site. Winter volunteer workdays focus on continuing that work by clearing, treating, and burning invasive shrubs and trees. Some areas may have sloping terrain. No skills are needed as you will be trained onsite.

Recurring Event: This event is scheduled monthly, 9am-noon, on the 2nd Thursday of the month year-round.

Location:  Maiden Rock State Natural Area – Meet in the parking lot.

What to bring:  Please bring work gloves and wear waterproof boots. Dress appropriately for the weather and in layers.

No bathrooms available on site. No dogs.

Email Sara Norman at sara@landmarkwi.org to let her know you will be attending or if you’d like to carpool from the Menomonie area.
