Event Description:
Join Northland College professor Sarah Johnson and Landmark Conservancy’s Charly Kearns for a winter botany hike at Tyler Forks Community Forest. During the hike, Sarah will provide tips for identifying trees and shrubs in winter. Come dressed for the weather and be prepared to snowshoe for a couple of hours, which will include several stops to enjoy and explore the plants we see. Beginners and botany experts alike are invited to join in on this fun outing.
Location: Tyler Forks Community Forest in Mellen, WI
Hike Length: 2-3 miles, depending on location of planned activities.
What to bring: Please wear weather appropriate clothing, bring snowshoes, snacks/bagged lunch, and water.
Snowshoes are available free of charge. Please indicate during registration.
Amenities: There will be a rustic outhouse at the beginning near the parking area.
