Description:
The 146-acre Colfax Red Cedar Preserve and Recreation Area has two miles of Red Cedar River frontage and is located adjacent to the Town of Colfax’s Felland Park. It was previously owned by the Dunn County Highway Department and was purchased with Knowles Nelson Stewardship funds and local community donors with the assistance of Landmark Conservancy in December 2019.
The Town of Colfax has a management committee to develop and maintain trails and organize habitat restoration efforts. A small prairie remnant exists already, and expansion of prairie and wildlife habitat is underway. A small pond provides an opportunity for fishing year-round.
Trails:
There is a trail loop around the edge of the property, as well as trails across the center of the property. A snowshoe trail is marked by green flagging in the winter. Dogs welcome.
