Event Description: The Lake Superior basin is home to some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the state. Visit four waterfalls: Copper Falls, Potato River Falls, Saxon, and Superior Falls. Enjoy picturesque views and learn about the geologic history that is responsible for their creation from geologist Tom Fitz.

While at Copper Falls State Park, we will take a short hike along the Tyler Forks River to highlight the trail system that connects to the adjacent 590-acre Tyler Forks Community Forest. This is a fundraiser for Landmark Conservancy.

This event is part of Wisconsin Land Trust Days, an annual celebration with events hosted by land trusts in July, August, and September. Join us to learn more about what a land trust is, the work that we do, and why it matters!

Meeting Location: Copper Falls State Park: 36683 Copper Falls Rd, Mellen, WI 54546

Pets: Although we love our furry friends, please leave your dog at home for this group event.

Accessibility: The location is not wheelchair accessible.

Restrooms: Restrooms are available at various locations along the trip.

Physical Activity: Challenging: could be over 3 miles, uneven terrain, could include several steep hills or stairways.

What to bring: Please be prepared to use your own vehicle to drive to the waterfall destinations. This will be a one-way trip – please make sure your vehicles have a full tank of gas.

Please pack a lunch. Bring sunscreen, insect repellant, and water. Be ready for wet or muddy conditions and to get a little dirty. Wear sturdy footwear. Dress in layers. The trip will go rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for the weather.
