Thank you to everyone who donated earlier this year to help improve public access and visitor experience at the Devil’s Punchbowl Preserve near Menomonie. We are happy to report that, with your support, we have fully met both challenge grants and an endowment fund has been established at the Community Foundation of Dunn County! While we had anticipated building the new lower stairway this fall, in part due to a busier than average construction season, the contractor we planned to work with notified us that they were unable to meet our needs. With winter just around the corner, we need to delay the stairway build until 2022.
We are grateful for the enthusiastic community support of the Devil’s Punchbowl property and improved access! This year, we held a successful spring workday and were able to re-gravel the parking area with help from the Town of Menomonie. Landmark staff is eager to secure a contractor to make the stairway replacement a reality in 2022. We welcome interested licensed contractors to contact us directly, so please spread the word! When the project is complete, we look forward to a ribbon-cutting and gathering to celebrate this community-supported effort.
Contractors can contact Michelle Von Ruden at michelle@landmarkwi.org or 715-204-7930. For all other questions, please contact me at kristin@landmarkwi.org or 715-235-8850.
We remain grateful for the strong community of support that surrounds us and thank you for your commitment to protecting the natural resources of northwest Wisconsin.
With gratitude for your support,
Kristin Thompson
